Socks (imp)

Driving back home after a family Christmas I was caught in a huge downpour with N and K. We pulled over with everyone else – it would have been quite a sight to see lines of stopped traffic along the sides of the highway, but no-one saw it. No-one saw anything in that rain. It eased a little and we took off, but not for long. We managed to splash our way into a nearby town and parked across from a bakery. Taking of our shoes and socks, we dashed into the shop and had afternoon tea while we watch a little flash flood. We also met some friends who were had been caught in the rain, but coming from the other direction. It was fun to see them so unexpectedly. The rain stopped, the water receded as quickly as it had risen and we returned to our car and continued on our journey. We dropped K off and returned home. What a wonderful Christmas – family, friends, the giving and receiving of presents, wonderful food and wine. Much to be happy about and thankful for. As I got into my pajamas that night I noticed my jeans were bulgy. Ah yes, my socks were still in my pocket, of course.
