Exchanging smiles.

Nona caught a stranger’s eye in the supermarket and they exchanged smiles.  Now every time Nona smiles, it’s the stranger’s smile.  The stranger’s lips are thinner than hers.  The smile is broader, a little higher on one side than the other.  Her eyes now close almost completely when she smiles and that feels odd.  The stranger’s smile makes her nose itch because she still has her own nose, but it still seems to link in somehow.  Nona smiles at everyone hoping they will exchange smiles with her.  But no-one smiles back at someone with a smile that is not their own.  So Nona goes to the supermarket a lot, hoping to find the stranger.  But somehow she knows she will never see him again.  The stranger’s teeth are awful.
